From August 27 to September 6, 2025, Venice will once again light up with the magic of cinema thanks to the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. Under the artistic direction of Alberto Barbera, the lagoon city will become the global center of film culture, hosting exclusive premieres, international stars, and great masters of contemporary cinema.
Leading Italian Directors Take the Spotlight at the Lido Opening the official competition will be Paolo Sorrentino with his much-anticipated film La grazia, starring two outstanding Italian actors: Toni Servillo and Anna Ferzetti. Other important Italian filmmakers will enrich the competition:
Leonardo Di Costanzo, with Elisa Pietro Marcello, with Duse Franco Maresco, with A Proper Film Gianfranco Rosi, with the documentary Under the Clouds

An Exceptional Jury Presiding over the international jury will be Alexander Payne, acclaimed director of masterpieces such as Nebraska and Sideways. His presence once again underlines the global prestige of the Venice Film Festival, recognized as one of the most important cinematic events in the world.
Lifetime Achievement Awards and Special Guests The 2025 edition will also honor two legends of world cinema: director Werner Herzog and iconic actress Kim Novak, both of whom will receive the prestigious Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, offering the audience unforgettable and emotional moments.
